Satellite images confirm tampering with E-11 nullah s route in Islamabad - Pakistan

A housing society has constructed commercial plazas on the nullah which hampered natural flow of water, causing Wednesday’s urban flooding in E-11 in Islamabad. Photo by Tanveer Shahzad ISLAMABAD: A private housing society in alleged connivance with Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad administration not only reduced the size of the natural stream in E-11/2 but also altered natural flow of the water way, which caused urban flooding after the heavy rain on Wednesday. Old satellite images taken in 2002 and in 2008 showed the zigzag nullah entering E-11. However, later on, in 2010-12, alignment of the nullah was made straight by the society in street number 2, where a mother and her child drowned when gushing water entered their basement.

Previous government of PML-N left $20b CAD: Ali Awan June 28, 2021 Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan here on Sunday said the previous Muslim League-N government had left a Current Account Deficit (CAD) of $ 20 billion, which was turned by the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government into $800 million surplus as its major economic success. “The former government has left Rs 45 billion in the form of liabilities, including Current Account Deficits, external debt, circular debt and trade deficits, which led the government to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), ” he said while talking to APP.
