A new VND26 trillion ($1.13 billion) Covid-19 relief package will expand the list of recipients to include patients, preschool teachers, artists and tour guides. The government issued a resolution Thursday on releasing the second pandemic relief package to help poor individuals and businesses hit by Covid-19. The first VND62 trillion package was launched in April last year. Compared to the previous one, the new package will reach more groups of individuals: confirmed Covid-19 patients, those sent to centralized quarantine zones, children, preschool teachers and teachers at private schools, artists working for state-owned units, and tour guides.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh demanded the labor ministry thoroughly ensures the package could reach those in need, including informal laborers like street vendors.
