Parliament passes bill to replace ordinance regularising Delhi’s unauthorised colonies India Updated: Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 20:19 [IST] New Delhi, Mar 10 (PTI): Parliament on Wednesday passed the National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Second (Amendment) Bill, 2021, to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi. While the Rajya Sabha had passed the Bill on February 9, it sailed through the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri told the Lok Sabha that the Bill would give protection to unauthorised colonies from sealing till December 31, 2023. Puri while replying to a debate on the Bill said the population of Delhi as per the 2011 census is 1.6 crore. I expect the population of Delhi in 2021 census will be close to 2 crore, if not higher, Puri added.
