It s a big day for downtown Milwaukee as the Common Council approved a $20 million financing plan for Milwaukee Tool s new office and today, nine years after it was first proposed, construction starts on the Couture apartment tower on the lakefront.
The largest influx ever of jobs to downtown Milwaukee by a suburban firm is coming after the Milwaukee Tool financing plan was approved: The council voted 15-0 to help Brookfield-based Milwaukee Tool redevelop a five-story, 350,000-square-foot office building at 501 W. Michigan St. that could bring 2,000 new hires downtown.
Couture apartment tower construction starts today: Below-grade improvements begin today and a structure will start rising by early 2022, with completion expected by the fall of 2023.

The 163rd Washington County Fair is scheduled for July 20-25 at the Washington County Fair Park, 3000 Highway PV, West Bend. Boone said new activities as well as traditional favorites are planned.
Two-time Platinum Award winner Lanco, a five-member country band from Nashville, is scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday July 22. Scheduled to open for Lanco is Rayne Johnson, a modern country artist who mixes soul and pop-rock in with his music.
WASHINGTON COUNTY â On Wednesday, Washington County supervisors authorized the county to enter into a 10-year contract with Eagles Entertainment, Inc. to bring additional live performance acts to the Washington County Fair Park & Conference Centerâs , as well as make several facilities improvements.
Prior to the contract being signed, the county had to receive approval from the majority of supervisors.
During the concert season of May through November, Eagles Entertainment, Inc. will host various concerts, festivals and family, commercial and community events. There may also be opportunities to hold off-season events within buildings.
Acts have not been officially booked at this time.
