Kenton Barker, 23, of 615 17th St., virtually appeared before Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge John Halliday to be sentenced to 30 days in jail with a credit for 24 days served. He also received two years community control. Barker was arrested on June 10, 2019, after a traffic stop in Belpre found him allegedly driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu without the consent of the owner. He was indicted in March on one count of possession of 1.5849 grams of methamphetamine and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Martinez, 32, of 80 Railroad St., was initially arrested on three charges of theft and one of attempted murder by the Washington County Sheriff’s office, but upon prosecutorial review of the charges, she was indicted only for one fifth-degree felony (theft) and one first-degree misdemeanor (aggravated menacing).

Dieffenbach to undergo competency evaluation | News, Sports, Jobs

mnewbanks@mariettatimes.com An evaluation will decide whether or not a 23-year-old Kent resident is competent to stand trial after being accused of rape in July. Defense attorney Rolf Baumgartel filed a motion suggesting incompetence in two cases against his client, Jordan Ross Dieffenbach of 1366 Elizabeth Court, Kent. Baumgartel spoke at a virtual hearing Wednesday afternoon in front of Washington County Common Pleas Judge John Halliday, saying he has reason to believe there are competency issues. “We’ve had an independent competency evaluation done, which is why this has come up,” Baumgartel said. Washington County Prosecutor Nicole Coil had no objection to the testing, which Halliday ordered completed by the Forensic Diagnostic Center of District 9.

A Vienna man will be spending the next 13 days in jail after setting fire to a trash can at Marietta Memorial Hospital in August. Robert Lynn Reynolds, 58, of 1437 20th St., Vienna, was sentenced Friday morning in Washington County Common Pleas Court to 20 days in jail, with seven days credit for time served He also received two years community control. He was indicted in September on one count of attempted aggravated arson, a third-degree felony, and disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony.
