Wallowa man held on Utah sex charges

WALLOWA — A man living in Wallowa faces multiple counts of sex abuse of a child in Utah. Wallowa County sheriff s deputies on Wednesday, March 31 arrested Michael Anthony Alexis, 52, on a felony warrant out of the federal district court in Washington County, Utah, for four counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, according to a police report. Washington County detective Sgt. Nate Abbott said Thursday, April 8, the alleged offenses took place over about a year s time from 2019-20. Although he couldn t identify the victim, Utah law indicates anyone younger than 14 is considered a child. The charge indicates it was a child, Abbott said.

Holshu, 33, of 752 Covey Court, Belpre, was indicted on one count of first-degree felony aggravated trafficking in drugs. He was arrested after reportedly being found in the 700 block of Second Street, Marietta, in October 2019 with more than five times the bulk amount for methamphetamine.

MARIETTA The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following reports: A deputy began an investigation Friday into a burglary in Belpre Township. The uncharged suspect returned the items and the victim then refused to file charges. A deputy was dispatched Friday to a report of an intoxicated driver on Ohio 7 heading to Marietta. The deputy observed a vehicle matching the description given and began to follow the vehicle. The vehicle continued crossing into the passing lane and swerving across the fog line prior to the stop. The deputy utilized his overhead lights and siren in which the driver of the vehicle continued driving. The deputy then pulled alongside the vehicle and identified the driver as Scott Carpenter and motioned for him to pull over, which he did. Contact was made with Carpenter and an odor of alcohol was detected on his person and his eyes were glazed. Carpenter’s speech was slurred and after exiting the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet. Oregon House panel finishes 10 bills to overhaul policing April 07 2021 Democratic governor and House GOP leader praise work, but member says we have more work to do. Ten bills to overhaul Oregon policing practices got a bipartisan seal of approval from Democratic Gov. Kate Brown, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum and House Republican Leader Christine Drazan. All of them spoke before the House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to approve amended versions of the bills, half of which go to a vote of the full House and half to the Legislature s joint budget panel because of their price-tag implications for state agencies. A few bills are pending, although they may not reach a committee vote.
