SHEPHERDSTOWN On Jan. 11, a 30-year-old member of Covenant Church in Shepherdstown went missing, after completing his shift with his employer in Hagerstown, Md. The Hedgesville resident, David Michael Barefoot, was last seen at a Sheetz gas station in Williamsport, Md., where he had fueled up that afternoon.
According to his mother, Donna Barefoot, who is also a member of Covenant Church, he had recently undergone a medical procedure. Combined with a history of brain aneurysms, Donna knew to be concerned when he did not respond to her phone calls after he got off of work.
ST. GEORGE A man and a woman were arrested last weekend after a sheriff s deputy discovered more than 80 pounds of methamphetamine, among other drugs, in their vehicle.
At 11:18 p.m. on Feb. 27, a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff s Office pulled over a northbound car on I-15 for expired registration just outside of St. George, according to a probable cause statement. The deputy said the couple inside the car identified in the court document as Tyler Bowers, 39, and Felicia Buckley, 38 informed him that it was a rental car, and Buckley showed him the rental agreement on her phone.
Bowers told the deputy they had just been in California and were headed home to Denver, according to court documents. The documents also said Bowers, who was driving, could not provide his license to the deputy and, while holding a large cocktail style drink, told the deputy that Buckley had been drinking in Las Vegas and could not drive because she was intoxicated. Tyson Chad Hill was arrested Wednesday by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony.
Det. Sgt. Smeeks requested and was issued an arrest warrant Monday through Marietta Municipal Court for Hill, 39, last known address of 219 Harmar St., Marietta.
Smeeks began an investigation Oct. 24, 2020, into the death of 37-year-old Jeffry Ryan Voycik. Voycik was found dead in his home at 11:50 a.m. Suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia were found next to Voycik’s body.
