Vermont Officials Prepare For Possible Protests

4:19 Montpelier, Vermont is the smallest capital city in the country but it is not immune to the passions and controversies swirling over the departure of President Donald Trump and the inauguration of President-elect Joseph Biden. The police department is working with federal and state agencies to secure the city and Statehouse in the wake of FBI warnings of potential violent protests at state capitols across the country. The FBI warning expects the protests to occur on the 17th and on Inauguration Day January 20th.   The Montpelier Police Department is coordinating with the Vermont State Police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and State’s Attorney office, the Vermont Intelligence Center, Vermont Capitol Police and other federal and state agencies to make sure the building, grounds and people are secure.

Orange County Woman Arrested On Reckless Homicide Charge Indiana State Police arrested an Orange County woman on a charge of reckless homicide on Friday, September 25, 2020. Around 6:07 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting a male lying in a ditch along US 150 near Honey Creek Road near the Washington/Orange County line.  After officers arrived on-scene, they located a deceased male and received information that a car may have intentionally struck the victim. 

Desloge says goodbye to Kater

It was the end of an era at last week’s Desloge Board of Aldermen meeting. After 16 years, Mayor David Kater presided over his last meeting. He will be sworn in as a St. Francois County Commissioner at the end of the month. Before becoming mayor in 2005, Kater was an alderman 2001 to 2005. But he started out as a firefighter for Desloge. “A long time invested in the community and the people within the community,” Alderman Alvin Sutton said. Many family members and former coworkers were in attendance for his last meeting. The board presented him with a special plaque. “I started talking with Greg (Camp) and probably one of the biggest things that you ve been involved in in your time was the water,” Sutton said. “You mentioned the water situation; that that was huge. 23-year-old Maine man Devin Lee dies in Jonesboro crash

The crash involved only one vehicle and one person, according to police. Credit: NBC Published: 2:45 PM EST December 23, 2020 Updated: 2:48 PM EST December 23, 2020 JONESBORO, Maine The Maine State Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened on Route 1 in Jonesboro early Wednesday morning. Devin Lee, 23, of Milbridge, died as a result of his injuries. Lee was traveling north in a gray 1989 Mercedes-Benz at the time of the crash. He was the only person in the car. According to police, the crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Maine State Police Corporal Micah Perkins responded as the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Jeff Ingemi, Trooper Keith York, Trooper Josh Lander, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
