Bail denied for retired New York City cop charged with assault in January 6 attempted coup
Thomas Webster, a 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), now retired, was denied bail on Tuesday at a hearing in US district court in White Plains, New York on charges related to the January 6 storming of the US Capitol by a fascist mob.
Webster, a former US Marine, was once a member of the security detail at New York’s City Hall. He is charged with violently assaulting a D.C. police officer during the storming of the Capitol.
The 54-year-old retired from the NYPD in 2011 and is now residing in Orange County, New York, about 65 miles from the city. He was wanted by the FBI for participating in the assault.
According to a criminal complaint, Coffee wore a brown hat, camouflage clothing, and a blue bandana, and he allegedly wielded a crutch as he attempted to push his way into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Photos of Coffee recorded on an officer s body-worn camera and security surveillance cameras were included in the criminal complaint as evidence in the case.

According to the criminal complaint, while storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Coffee climbed up the steps to the Lower Terrace entryway and turned toward the crowd to make several statements.

A federal criminal complaint accuses a Marshall County man of dragging a law enforcement officer down the steps of the U.S.Capitol, leading to the officer being kicked, beaten with poles, and stomped on during the Jan. 6 riot and insurrection.
FBI officials arrested Clayton Ray Mullins of Benton, Kentucky, on Tuesday. He faces several charges including assaulting, resisting, and impeding certain officers. A previous FBI statement said Mullins was to make his initial appearance in federal court Wednesday. WKMS News was unable to confirm what took place during that appearance.
The complaint was accessed via the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, which maintains a database of federal complaints, indictments, and other relevant documents of those arrested so far in connection with the Jan. 6 riot.
