Abidemi Rufai, Governor Dapo Abiodun top aide on special duties, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States for his role in $650 million (N312 billion) unemployment benefits fraud.
The Seattle Times reports that Rufai was apprehended in New York on Friday as he attempted to flee the country.
According to the publication, he appeared before a federal court on Saturday on charges alleging he used the identities of more than 100 Washington residents to fraudulently receive over $350,000 in unemployment benefits from the Washington State Employment Security Department during the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
The MD of Ecobet Sports Betting company, Abidemi Rufai arrested over multiple fraud in the US. He recently doled out huge amount to musicians, Small Doctor and Pasuma as ambassadors of his Ecobet lotto.
Rufai was arrested in the departure area of JFK international Airport,New York on 14 May 2021. He was charged with defrauding Washington State Employment Security Department of over $350,000.

Arrested at NY airport on criminal complaint
Rufai, a flamboyant property merchant and owner of Ecobet Sport Betting in Nigeria was arrested Friday evening at JFK Airport in New York on a criminal complaint charging him with wire fraud for his scheme to steal over $350,000 in unemployment benefits from the Washington State Employment Security Department, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Tessa M. Gorman. Abidemi Rufai, aka Sandy Tang, 42, of Lekki, Nigeria, made his initial appearance Saturday May 15, 2021 in New York. He is scheduled for a detention hearing Wednesday.
