Adult Program Offerings Later this Month at Washington Public Library

Whether you’re a reader or a writer, the Washington Public Library has adult programming offerings for either this month. Library Director Bryna Walker says the first event will be the Roaming Readers Book Club which will be meeting Monday, January 25th from 1-2 p.m. on Zoom, “This is a book club that Tammy [Valentine] does, she is targeting the author Stephen King this time and so you just get to just read your choice of Stephen King books and they get together on Zoom, and we can send you the Zoom link if you’re interested in being a part of that. And then you just talk about the book that you chose to read of Stephen King’s, it’s just a favorite author of hers so she thought it would be a fun January activity.”

Washington Public Library Hosting Zoom Bake-Off

Imagine being a reality TV star while getting messy in the kitchen for an event being hosted by the Washington Public Library. “The Great Library Bake Off” will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 30th at 2:30 p.m. Aspiring bakers can compete individually or as a team, and are asked to have two round cake layers baked and cooled prior to the challenge. Youth Services Librarian Jenisa Harris will then give competitors a decorating challenge in which they’ll have 45 minutes to complete. Harris hopes this will share the spirit of reality baking shows, “I kind of thought it would be fun because you’ll get to see people making their cake and kind of get some play by play. I can kind of interview them, ‘Hey, what step are you at? What tactic are you using?’ So I think it’ll almost kind of have, like a baking show feel, a little bit.”
