Regional Victorian man charged with possessing child abuse material
A 30-year-old Ballarat man is due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today (16 April 2021) following an Australian Federal Police (AFP) investigation into an online user uploading child abuse material.
The Victorian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (Vic JACET) investigation began in January after the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) received several reports from the United States National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding a Google account uploading a number of videos containing child abuse material to social media and sharing platforms.
It will be alleged that through Police inquiries the 30-year-old man was linked to the Google account and a warrant was executed at his Golden Point home in regional Victoria yesterday (15 April 2021).

A 33-year-old Werribee man has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to child exploitation offences.
The man was sentenced in the County Court yesterday.
The man was charged after Australian Federal Police officers executed a search warrant at his Werribee property in December 2019.
The investigation was launched after the Victorian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), comprising Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police members, received a report from the AFP’s Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) over the grooming of a child through the social media application ‘Kik’.
The AFP found the man sent sexually explicit images to a 12-year-old girl.

Regional Victorian man charged, after rescue of nine children in Philippines last month
A 67 year-old regional Victorian man has been charged with child abuse offences after police linked him to alleged payments to a known child exploitation facilitator in the Philippines.
The Victorian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET), comprising Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Victoria Police members, executed a search warrant at the man’s regional residence in central Victoria on Wednesday 3 March, 2021.
Investigators seized a mobile phone, a hard-drive and a laptop computer from the property for further forensic analysis. Police will allege in court that documents found on the seized computer contained child abuse material and records of online chat conversations allegedly facilitating, ‘pay-per-view’ child abuse content.
