A $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office will help Wickliffe-based Lubrizol Corp. create membranes for heavy-duty fuel cell applications.
The company s Lubrizol Corporate Ventures team will focus on improving the durability of Proton-Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cells through enhanced membrane oxidation performance, a news release said. This will help reduce emissions and add hours of run time for fuel cells. Lubrizol will work with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on validation testing.

A new partnership between Wickliffe-based Lubrizol Corp. and Canadian firm Advonex International Corp. will lead to the development of more renewable ingredients for the beauty and personal care market.
Lubrizol has in recent years been working to increase sustainability through acquisitions and collaborations. This partnership will specifically be with Lubrizol Life Science – Beauty. Advonex aims to replace petroleum-based ingredients such as petrolatum and mineral oil with plant-based hydrocarbons.
