Muttamsetti interacts with health workers at VIMS
Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao inspected the COVID-19 vaccination programme at Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) here on Sunday. He appealed to people not to believe in rumours on the vaccination producing adverse results.
Inspecting the vaccination programme, Mr. Srinivasa Rao interacted with VIMS Director K. Satya Varaprasad and learnt about the number of people being given COVID-19 vaccine shots per day, number of vaccine shots available and any issues cropping up during the procedure. He then observed the vaccination procedure and asked the health workers how they were feeling to which the latter replied that they were fine.

No deaths reported for the third consecutive day
No COVID-19 death was reported from the district consecutively for the third day on Saturday. As many as 47 persons tested COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 59,337 and 16 persons recovered from the virus, according to the bulletin released on Saturday. The death toll stands at 518. The number of active cases and recoveries is 260 and 58,559 respectively.
Five Andhra Pradesh coronavirus hospitals denotified as cases fall
In case of any surge in Covid-19 positive cases, the government can again notify the above hospitals, fully or partially, as state Covid hospitals.

VIJAYAWADA: As there has been a considerable decline in the daily spike of coronavirus cases over the last four weeks, the government on Tuesday denotified five State Covid-19 hospitals. These institutions can now continue as general hospitals and extend regular medical services.
The state medical and health department, in March and April, had notified the Government General Hospital (GGH)-Vijayawada, Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS)-Visakhapatnam, GGH-Nellore, Padmavathi Hospital-Tirupati and GGH-Kurnool as State Covid hospitals to manage the rising Covid-19 infections, and comorbid patients referred from district Covid-19 hospitals who require quality medical care.

There are no COVID patients admitted to the hospital right now
After exclusively serving COVID-19 patients for eight months, the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) will resume regular hospital services from next week.
The State government denotified VIMS as a COVID-19 hospital after the institute requested to be allowed to use some of its blocks for regular health services in the wake of a decline in COVID-19 cases. However, a dedicated 300-bed block is being reserved for treating COVID-19 patients on the hospital premises keeping in view the possibility of a second wave of infections.
