Edison International applauds the release of a many-faceted policy platform to hasten the adoption of electric vehicles announced by the Washington, D.C.-based Zero Emission Transportation Association.
Visalia Unified School District quarantined several classrooms in the wake of multiple students and staff testing positive for COVID-19.
Affected schools include Crestwood, Shannon Ranch, Annie R. Mitchell, Veva Blunt, and Willow Glen elementary schools, where overall 75 students were quarantined on Monday as a precaution.
Teachers and aides will also be required to quarantine.
Staffers tested positive for COVID-19 at Mountain View, Washington and Four Creeks on Jan. 19, the same day students returned from the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. No classrooms were quarantined, according to communications coordinator Kim Batty
A non-VUSD classroom at Green Acres was also quarantined. A staff member for a Tulare County Office of Education program tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, according to spokesperson Rob Herman.

Barbara (Griego) James of Visalia, California passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the young age of 63.
Barbara was born on February 10, 1957 in Anchorage, Alaska. She grew up in Los Alamos, NM and graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1975.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Marie Johnson, parents David and Mary Griego, brother Don Griego and sister Rosanne Griego Kincaid.
Barbara retired from Visalia Unified School District in July, 2020 after 25 years of service. She was looking forward to traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandbabies.

It came a little more than a month after county and state health officials approved the district s detailed waiver application for the return of elementary school students. It s made a difference not only academically but also socially, Visalia Unified Superintendent Tamara Ravalin said. They re excited to see their friends, their teacher. When they see their teacher for the first time, it s like, I know you. I saw you on screen! And they re very excited.
