WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - Getting as many shots into arms as possible, that’s been the phrase health leaders have repeated endlessly since COVID-19 vaccines became widely available.
But over the last month, vaccination rates in Wichita County have slowed down. Mason Brighton took a look at how the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District is responding.
“We have more vaccines in house than we have individuals on our waiting list,” said , Lou Kreidler, Director of Health at the WC-WF Public Health District.
Health district to transition to weekly COVID reports
There were 26 additional recoveries.
Four people are hospitalized related to COVID-19, of which three are in critical condition.
The district said beginning next week, they will only be reporting weekly on new COVID cases, hospitalizations, vaccine breakthroughs and reinfection cases. The reports will be on Fridays.
The active COVID-19 cases chart and positivity charge will be updated online at the district’s COVID page on Mondays. The health district’s page is a www.wichitafalltx.gov.

WICHITA COUNTY, Texas (TNN) - The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District reported nine new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. There were also 10 new recoveries and no new deaths.
There are now a total of 14,953 cases in Wichita County, with 43 of them still being active.
39 patients are recovering at home while four are in the hospital. At last check, there are two patients in critical condition.
There have been 328 total COVID-19 related deaths, 14,582 recoveries and 82,248 negative tests in Wichita County.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - The CDC has cleared the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back into rotation, being one of three vaccines available people can get.
The 10 day pause on the J&J vaccine was lifted six days ago. However, Midwestern State University officials say as soon as it was announced that is was safe they went right back to offering students a chance to get a shot through campus-wide vaccine clinics.
