WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - What started as a request for a t-shirt from Wichita Falls High School turned into the ultimate surprise for one Hospice of Wichita Falls patient.
It was Kay Barrettâs hospice chaplain who made the call to the Old High principal simply asking how to buy one of the new t-shirts. The response was something neither of them was expecting.
âThat was just beyond anything I could have imagined,â Starkovich Forster, a chaplain for Hospice of Wichita Falls, said.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - Volunteers, mentors and partners with the Wichita Falls ISD are not normally in the spotlight. But on Tuesday night, all they do behind the scenes was celebrated.
The 32nd annual Partners in Education reception thanked its partners who were all nominated by each school they serve in. 12 awards were handed out this year in a broad range of categories.
Shelia Verret won Mentor of the Year. She logs nearly 200 volunteer hours a month at Milam Elementary and is such a hard worker that often times the staff forgets that she is a volunteer.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - The News Channel 6 City Guide is a segment that shines a spotlight on local businesses, events, and nonprofits across Texoma. In this episode, we’re giving you a closer look at the April recipient of the Give Light Awards presented by the Junior League of Wichita Falls. Communities in Schools of Greater Wichita Falls Area provides a community of support and resources for students in the districts it serves through a variety of programs.
For the Rev. Angus Thompson, it all comes down to the children of Wichita Falls ISD.
As the leader of a community group pushing for school equity, Thompson vocally opposed the bond voters approved Nov. 3 to build two new high schools in WFISD.
But the longtime community activist supports the $13.585 million bond proposition for athletics and recreational facilities for the two new high schools. I think to oppose that would be harmful to the children, said Thompson, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. The most important thing, I believe, is the children. We have to keep that in mind.”
While he backs this year s bond for the sake of the children, not all who have been active in People Invested in the Equity of Reallocating our Schools agree.

Since that initial spark 13 years ago, Alexandra and Cooper fell in love, married, and now have an 18-month-old child. They earned both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees at MSU Texas. And together, they’ll complete another educational milestone as members of MSU Texas’ first group of students to earn a doctorate in education.
