City to sell site of old Denver School

The Wichita Falls City Council will consider selling the site of the old Denver School when councilors meet Tuesday.
The city has owned the property at 1823 Fifth Street since 1904 and leased it first to the U.S. Navy from 1946 until 1993 and then leased it to the Wichita Falls Independent School District for use as the Denver Alternative School. The school district vacated the buildings in 2020 to move to the Harrel facility a short distance away and the city put the property up for auction.
The property appraised at $445,000 but the only bid was from Redeemed Christian Church of God at $300,000. The city staff recommends selling it at that price.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (TNN) - The Wichita Falls Independent School District asks parents to complete an anonymous survey.
The WFISD Counseling and Mental Health Needs Assessment is intended to better support families and campuses, according to school officials.
The survey is comprised of questions for WFISD parents and guardians with children in primary and secondary schools.
Survey responses will be accepted until Thursday March 25.
