+ March 08, 2021 MEDICAL workers who are senior citizens will be first in line to be injected with the 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) allotted for Central Visayas.
According to Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Department of Health (DOH) 7 spokesperson, after the “senior” medical workers are vaccinated, what’s left of the vaccines will be distributed to other age groups.
She said they initially expected the AZ vaccine to arrive in Cebu either on Monday, March 8, 2021, or Tuesday, March 9. But they were told there is no fixed date yet on when the vaccine will actually get here, she said.

Photo by Amper Campaña March 07, 2021 A TOTAL of 1,075 health care workers from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City have already been injected with CoronaVac, the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) manufactured by Sinovac Biotech Ltd. of China, as of 11 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the VSMMC said only 41 experienced mild adverse effects after vaccination and none suffered serious adverse effects.
The number of VSMMC employees who have consented to be vaccinated has already reached 2,062.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Department of Health (DOH) 7 spokesperson, earlier said reactions after receiving the vaccine are normal as the body is given something “that it does not recognize as part of its own.”
March 05, 2021 Is the long wait finally over? Or, shall we say, it’s a never-ending journey in dealing with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). With the start of the government’s vaccination program, some sectors viewed this as the “light at the end of the tunnel.” However, others viewed this as a never-ending misery for the Filipino people that we have to bear this pandemic for a longer period of time. Why? The vaccines that have been released recently may be the solution to stop the virus from spreading. However, Covid-19 has also leveled up. There are newly discovered Covid-19 variants which these vaccines will not reportedly work against. This means that the pharmaceutical companies will have to manufacture another formula of vaccines that will counter these new variants.
