Gore Mutual donates $95,000 to help Canadian charities keep communities Healthy for the Holidays

CAMBRIDGE, ON, Dec. 21, 2020 /CNW/ - The holidays are a time for giving and Gore Mutual Insurance Company is reflecting the spirit of the season by donating $95,000 to support Canadian charities helping communities in need through its Gore Mutual Foundation.
The funds are being granted as part of Gore Mutual s Healthy for the Holidays campaign. The holiday season is a particularly difficult time for millions of Canadians who cannot afford a basic standard of living or suffer from depression and other wellness-related risks.

Local musical talents Jody Raffoul, Jeff Burrows, Wes Buckley, David Cyrenne, Kelly Hoppe, Kelly Authier, Marty Bak, Liz Robinson and Stephanie Baker present their popular annual Christmas-themed performance via live stream on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.

A couple in Amherstburg have written a children s book, EDventures, based on their rescued pup Eddie to raise funds for a local animal rescue.
Amherstburg residents Lori Huver and John Schlarbaum adopted Eddie from Windsor s Second Chance Animal Rescue. Eddie and his siblings were brought to the shelter from Texas as they were unable to be looked after. When Eddie arrived in Canada, he was fostered before Huver and Schlarbaum adopted him.

Unifor Local 444 members provided a large amount of food and $15,000 that has been donated to the Windsor Essex Food Bank Association operated under the Unemployed Help Centre of Windsor.
As part of the holiday contribution, Unifor employees conducted gate collections at the Windsor Assembly Plant of both and accepting both food and monetary donations.

Since the pandemic began in March, the food bank association has served a total of 113,000 in need of emergency food assistance. More than 6,000 of those served were first-time food bank users.
