Fortinet CEO Ken Xie said the company expects to overtake its two biggest SD-WAN competitors and become the market share leader within a few years.
The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based platform security vendor said its two primary rivals got into the SD-WAN space via acquisition, and will therefore be slower going forward when it comes to innovation and responding to market changes, according to Xie. Fortinet is currently third in SD-WAN market share behind VMware - which bought VeloCloud and Nyansa – and Cisco, which bought Meraki and Viptela.

Forcepoint has named a slate of new senior-level executives following the company’s $1.1 billion sale from Raytheon to private equity firm Francisco Partners.
The Austin, Texas-based platform security vendor tapped former Arista Networks chief customer officer and F5 Networks and AppViewX CEO Manny Rivelo to lead the company going forward. Rivelo will replace Matthew Moynahan, who had run Forcepoint since May 2016, shortly after the company was formed from the combination of Websense, Stonesoft, Sidewinder and Raytheon’s security business.

Open-software powerhouse Red Hat has struck a deal to buy StackRox, a developer of container and Kubernetes-native security that Red hat will use to boost the security capabilities of the Red Hat OpenShift hybrid cloud platform.
The acquisition comes as the adoption of container technology in general – and Kubernetes in particular – for cloud-native applications within production IT environments is accelerating.

Akamai has introduced a new partner program that promises to more than double margins for solution providers who deliver design and implementation services to customers.
The Cambridge, Mass.-based intelligence edge platform provider said its previous program delineated solution providers based only on revenue and certifications, meaning that demand gen or fulfillment partners were often eligible for the same margins as service delivery partners, according to Micheal McCollough, global vice president, channels and alliances.
