CDC Mask Decisions Come With Words Of Caution

By Robert Kennedy May 14, 2021 | 3:38 AM GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Local health leaders were popular people after the CDC announced vaccinated people can ditch their masks in most settings. “I don’t think I’ve ever had my phone be one continuous buzz like that before,” said Dr. Ashok Rai, President and CEO of Prevea Health. “It was kind of interesting, everybody wanting to talk about it.” Dr. Rai tells FOX 11 the timing of the recommendations is scientifically based and the number one priority for employers should be protecting their employees. “You know you’re allowed to ask about vaccination status. You really can’t ask why they didn’t get it, but if they did get it you can allow unmasking within your own employment setting.”

Iowa COVID-19 vaccine demand drops in some counties; metro still strong

Four months ago, the select people who qualified for COVID-19 vaccines were in a pitched race to secure the precious medicine. Now, less than two weeks after eligibility expanded to everyone 16 or older, some counties are declining their full allocations of vaccine in the hopes that the doses will go to places where there s higher demand.  Winnebago County Public Health asked for only half of the 200 doses the state allocated to the county, Clinical Manager Allison Rice said. It s one of 21 counties that declined a full allotment of vaccines due to lack of immediate demand, Iowa Public Health Department officials said this week.
