The rumors also come after Rockford marked its deadliest year on record in 2020 and has been named the 11th most dangerous city in the United States
Hintz did acknowledge that the number of bodies found so far this year is notably high and that the county averages about four bodies found a year

In the wake of the Derek Chauvin guilty verdict, Rockford activists continue calling for transparency in local police encounters.
For some the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial hasn’t provided the resolution they were hoping for. Rockford activists say they’re still reeling from the list of deadly encounters with the police since the death of George Floyd in their own back yard. For Leslie Rolfe, an activist with the May 30th Alliance, the guilty verdict hasn’t translated to improved police accountability in the city.
“In Rockford specifically, one of our biggest issues is that nobody knows about these things happening,” said Rolfe. “Whether it be inside of Rockford or [in]side of Winnebago county or outside, you know.”
ROCKFORD Investigations into two recent shootings by Winnebago County Sheriff s Department deputies and a Rockford Police Department officer could take another four to six months to conclude, officials said Thursday.
Detectives from area departments assigned to the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force are investigating the fatal April 10 shooting of Faustin Guetigo, 27, and the non-fatal April 11 shooting of Jose Gonzalez, 19. Their findings will help Winnebago County State s Attorney J. Hanley determine if the shootings were lawful.
Hanley stressed that information he has released, and videos released by the respective law enforcement agencies, was part of an effort to be as transparent as possible. He said authorities understanding of what occurred could change as more information is revealed.
ROCKFORD Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday seized on the Winnebago County Sheriff s Department s fatal shooting of Faustin Guetigo to mount a defense of police following the murder conviction of former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin.
Hannity played part of a video released by Sheriff Gary Caruana that included body worn camera footage of the fatal April 10 police shooting. The video appears toward the end of a longer segment. The portion about Winnebago County starts at 14:25 in the video above.
Hannity told his viewers that for police behind every door, danger is lurking before arguing that Democrats paint police as all evil.
