Syracuse, N.Y. Two agencies have downgraded their already-low ratings on nearly $286 million in bonds issued by the Syracuse Industrial Development Agency to finance the expansion of the Destiny USA mall.
The ratings that Moody’s and Fitch had previously given to the bonds were already below investment grade, but they are even lower now.
On Monday, Fitch lowered its rating on the bonds from BB to B, meaning the agency believes there is a material risk the mall will default on its bond payments, but that a “limited margin of safety remains.”
