ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has underlined the need for concrete efforts to address the growing menace of drug usage in the universities so as to provide a drug-free environment at the educational institutions.
In order to facilitate the Differently-abled Persons (DAPs) to pursue higher studies, he emphasized the need for making the infrastructure of university buildings friendly to the differently-abled students.
He said that both the public and the private sector universities must make steady progress in this direction.
The universities are required to evaluate the needs of DAPs to make the buildings friendly for the persons with disabilities and identify their respective issues so that efforts could be made to address them, he emphasized.

Society depends on institutes that integrate education with teaching and training, which provide differently-abled persons equal opportunities and a chance to live with self-respect and earn a decent living through their own efforts, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Karachi Vocational and Training Centre s (KVTC s) Jiddat outlet.
KVTC is playing a pivotal role in the training of differently-abled people in Pakistani society, particularly Sindh, he said, terming the setting up of Jiddat a milestone not just in the journey of KVTC, but all differently-abled people in the country.
