In the first phase, polls will be held in 344 gram panchayats in Anakapalle division, says Collector
After the election schedule was confirmed by the State Election Commissioner (SEC), the district has gone into the election mode and is gearing up for the panchayat elections.
Speaking to the media after a video conference with the SEC, Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior officials, District Collector V. Vinay Chand said that as per the schedule the elections will be taken up in the 344 gram panchayats in Anakapalle division on February 9, in the first phase.

An ASHA worker gets first COVID-19 vaccine shot; first phase to be completed by January 20
The COVID-19 vaccination programme kick-started at the urban PHC in Chinna Waltair, here on Saturday. Immediately after Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the nation-wide address, A. Sai Lakshmi, an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker, was administered the first Covishield vaccine, followed by Principal of Andhra Medical College and District Special COVID Officer P.V. Sudhakar receiving it.

VISAKHAPATNAM: District collector V. Vinay Chand has warned that severe action would be initiated against individuals and institutions destroying religious harmony in the district.
Talking to reporters after chairing the first religious harmony and peace committee meeting here on Sunday, the collector said people belonging to all religions, faith and caste have been coexisting peacefully. In order to prevent any disturbances, they had formed a district-level peace committee, which will be headed by district collector.

District Collector V. Vinay Chand instructed the Municipal Commissioners, Sub-Collectors, Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) and the Health Department officials to get ready and make all arrangements for COVID-19 vaccination. He conducted a coordination meeting with the officials of various departments at the Collectorate here on Sunday.
Mr. Vinay Chand said that in the first phase, healthcare workers like ASHA, community health workers, ANMs, health officials, paramedical staff, community health extension officers, pharmacists, nurses, health assistants, administration staff, sanitary staff, ambulance drivers and others working in hospitals, will be vaccinated.
