The Indian authorities may have given a go-ahead to two COVID-19 vaccines (Covishield by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, and Covaxin by Bharat Biotech), the task of administering a two-dose vaccine to over 1.3 billion people will be nothing short of a logistical nightmare.
With the approval of the two vaccines, the government authorities have also re-launched the Co-WIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network). The indigenously built platform, which will work as an intelligence ecosystem, is an updated version of eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network), and has been developed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The central government had explained that the Co-WIN app comes with five modules, namely - Administrator module, Registration module, Vaccination module, Beneficiary Acknowledgement module, and Report module. The app is yet to be made public on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

India is gearing up for the vaccination process. Two COVID vaccines have been given emergency use authorisation by the Drug Regulator and the vaccines are likely to be rolled out by January 13 or 14.
After the first dry run for COVID-19 vaccination on January 2, the second dry run will take place tomorrow across 700+ districts in all states and union territories. Dry runs have already been conducted in all districts of Uttar Pradesh (Tuesday) and Haryana (Thursday). Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan held a meeting with Health Ministers of all states and UTs on Thursday to review preparedness. Dr Harsh Vardhan said that around 1.7 lakh volunteers and 3 lakh vaccination team members have been trained to administer vaccines and regulate the vaccination sites.

However, taking advantage of the situation, many fake CoWIN apps have been listed on the Google Play store and Apple App Store. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also
