More tickets handed out in connection with anti-restriction rallies in Manitoba

  WINNIPEG Manitoba enforcement officers handed out 26 tickets over the last week to people attending anti-restriction rallies. In the province’s latest enforcement update, it said enforcement officials issued 20 tickets for a rally at The Forks on April 25. Officers also issued two tickets for a rally in Winkler on May 1 and four tickets for a rally at the Winnipeg Law Courts on May 3. The fines from the Winkler and law courts rallies will be included in the next enforcement update data, because they were issued after May 2. The province said investigations into these events are continuing and more charges are expected.

This week s COVID-19 enforcement numbers do not reflect tickets given in Winnipeg Monday, but the province is releasing more details. Six tickets have been given out that are not included in Tuesday s COVID-19 enforcement update, as they come from recent events. On Saturday, two tickets were issued in Winkler and Monday four in Winnipeg after rallies protesting the Public Health Orders. Provincial officials were present at both events.

Church of God pastor Tobias Tissen said Monday he does not have the jurisdiction to limit people from going to his church, or force them to wear masks.
