COX S BAZAR, Bangladesh (AP) â A fire on Friday destroyed more than 20 shops in a makeshift market near a Rohingya refugee camp in southern Bangladesh, killing at least three people, police and witnesses said.
Local police chief Ahmed Sanjur Morshed said they recovered the bodies from the debris after it took firefighters several hours to bring the blaze under control. Several other people were injured.
The fire broke out early Friday when residents of the sprawling Kutupalong camp for Myanmar s Rohingya refugees were asleep.
Sayedul Mustafa, the owner of a shop, confirmed the dead were his staff.
âWe had five workers who slept in the shop but three of them were missing. Then after the fire was put out with water, we found one body first, then all three. Two people survived by the grace of Allah,â said Aneesul Mustafa, a Rohingya refugee and the owner s relative.

TEHRAN, Iran Mishaps during an annual fire festival in Iran have left at least 10 people dead and hundreds more injured around the country, state TV reported Wednesday.
State TV reported the casualties Wednesday but news outlets including the semiofficial ISNA said the deaths happened over a period of several weeks. Many of the deaths and injuries occurred during the production and preparation of firecrackers, according to reports.
Fireworks are illegal in Ontario, as they are in many California cities. Ontario Police Chief Mike Lorenz said officers have been called to the area in the past on reports of fireworks being set off.
Officials didn t immediately have information about where the cache in the explosion came from, or what was happening in the home where the blasts erupted. We don’t know anything about the fireworks right now, Ontario Fire Chief Ray Gayk said.
The two people who were killed appeared to be inside or around the home, Gayk said.
Three other people had minor injuries and weren t hospitalized, Gayk said.
