Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised the takeover of the Thiruvananthapuram airport by the Adani group. In the state assembly on Wednesday, the chief minister said that the takeover was not in the interest of development, but in the interest of “monopolies”.
The criticism comes at a time when an appeal against the airport’s takeover is pending in the Supreme Court.
He said, “The management of the airport is being handed over to a group who have no prior experience in it. The union government’s stand is to create a special monopoly in this sector according to their interest.”

NEW DELHI: India has simplified the process of getting new types of aircraft as it opens its skies to flying machines not seen here commonly earlier like seaplanes and four-seater planes.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has removed the requirement of giving type acceptance of aircraft for short term wet leasing (hiring with operating crew) of aircraft in a bid to improve the ease of doing business in this crippled by Covid sector.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan took grave exception to the concession agreement being signed on the sly and in defiance of more than one appeal pending in the SC
A concession agreement may have been signed in New Delhi between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Adani Group for operations, management and development of the Trivandrum International Airport, but it does not guarantee a timeline for the handover to take effect on ground.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has already made a statement on the floor of the State Assembly the morning after (Wednesday) that signing of the concession agreement merely perpetuated the Centre’s overt moves to protect the interests of private sector monopolies in strategic sectors.

‘Move by BJP government amounts to violation of federal principles’
The Centre’s decision to transfer the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to Adani Airports Ltd. drew sharp criticism from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday.
Replying to questions in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the petition filed by the State government was pending before the Supreme Court. However, the Centre had opted to ignore it and go ahead with its decision. He termed the BJP government move unsound and irresponsible and said it amounted to a violation of the federal principles.
