The airport served 27.2 million passengers last year, according to transportation officials, who reported the number of travelers dipped under 28 million for the first time in 15 years. Kansas City Airport to hold virtual concessions events for New Terminal

The $1.5 billion Kansas City New Terminal is due to open in early 2023. The Kansas City Aviation Department and its partners ICF and Philips West are organising two Virtual Concessions Meet and Greets (12 January and 13 January 2021). The purpose is to develop the news and gifts concessions and food and beverage programme in the $1.5billion New Terminal at Kansas City International Airport (Build KCI). The facility is due to open in early 2023. Creating a customer-centric programme, which provides a sense of place, engages technology and integrates the spirit of Kansas City is the overall vision of the airport company. The initial plan was to hold physical meet and greets to bring together major national and multinational airport concessions operators and smaller operators. The objective was to give them the opportunity to discuss possible partnerships in the new terminal.
