Three PIA officers under probe after plane seizure in Kuala Lumpur

Following the seizure of a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane at Malaysia s Kuala Lumpur airport two days ago, three officers of the airline are being probed.
The national carrier is investigating officers of the marketing, engineering and flight operations departments.
Records of the three departments are also being scrutinised.
Two days ago, PIA flight PK894 had reached Kuala Lumpur from Islamabad but was stopped by a court order for non-payment of lease.
The national carried had leased a Boeing 777 from Dublin-based AerCap in 2015. According to Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar, the airline did not make payments in 2020 due to the coronavirus.

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Saturday said PIA officials will appear before a London court on January 22 and before a Malaysian court on January 24 after which the national carrier would accept the decision of the courts .
The minister, while addressing a press conference in the city, said PIA failed to pay the lease of the aircraft that was held in Kuala Lumpur on time due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Malaysian court issued an order without listening to any arguments by the airline.
RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has been divided into three divisions: regulatory, airport & operations and support functions to make the organisation more robust to ensure safe and secure civil aviation affairs in the country.
The PCAA director general has issued a notification which says that the objective of the functional separation of the authority is to ensure micro-level management with focus on each function in pursuance of the vision and mission of the authority.
According to revised organisational structure which will be implemented immediately, two posts of additional directors general have been created.
One additional director general will be heading the regulatory division while the other will be heading airports and operations division.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar has said that Pakistan Democratic Movement will not ahead with protests and sit-ins and it will also contest Senate elections and by-polls.
Ghulam Sarwar, while talking to media persons, said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will never resign from assemblies while one faction of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is also against resignations.
He said that 2021 will bring stability in Pakistani politics and government will conduct local bodies election at the end of this year and opposition will also contest those elections.

The federal government on Tuesday decided to form a Drone Regulatory Authority (DRA) for effective use of the remote-control surveillance technology in various fields.
Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry apprised Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the formulation of drone policy at a high-level briefing in Islamabad.
The premier was also thoroughly briefed on the peaceful and research-based use of drone technology in various fields.
