(KSLA) - The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $4.9 million in federal funds for the Texarkana Regional Airport-Webb Field. The funds will go towards reconstructing the terminal building at the airport. “The investment in Texarkana Regional Airport-Webb Field will greatly benefit the Texarkana community and Arkansas as a whole,” said U.S. Representative Bruce Westerman. “The FAA’s $4.9 million investment to reconstruct the terminal will be an important part of bolstering Southwest Arkansas’s economy through commerce, tourism, and access.”

Those include airports in Louisiana and several in the Acadiana area. The U.S. Department of Transportationâs Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award more than $627.7 million to those projects through the FY2021 Airport Improvement Program (AIP). âAirports serve as a lifeline for communities across the nation,â said U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. âModernizing our infrastructure in a way that creates jobs, ensures safety, combats climate change, and fosters equity is a top priority for the Biden-Harris Administration. These Airport Improvement grants will help airports across the country better serve their communities.â
