Google Indoor Maps was launched at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today, becoming the first indoor facility to enable this feature in Sri Lanka. SriLankan Airlines and Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited teamed up in a remarkable joint project that resulted in BIA becoming the first venue in Sri Lanka to be enabled on Google Indoor Maps, accessible on smartphones and tabs on both Apple and Android devices. Google Indoor Maps puts yet another resource in the hands of passengers and visitors for finding out many possibilities available to them before they start their journey or arrive at the airport.

Ukraine’s SkyUp Airlines Operates a Charter Flight to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport

Ukrainian Budget Carrier SkyUp operated the first charter flight to Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) on 28 December, 2020 with 180 international tourists from Ukraine. The Boeing 737-900, flight no PQ555, arrived at MRIA at 1406 hrs.
The flight was warmly welcomed with a water salute. Cultural dancing performances were organized in collaboration with Sri Lanka Tea Board to welcome and entertain the tourists. The cultural performances were related to tea and conveyed the legacy of over 150 years Ceylon Tea including Prashanthi, Tea ceremony, and Tea Pluckers Dance.
