Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese community is
joining hands with the government as well as cities and provinces of Laos in the fight against the COVID-19
On May 13, the Vietnamese
Defence Ministry’s Army Corps 11 presented 10,000 N95 face masks to the Lao National
Assembly, 200,000 masks and 10,000 tonnes of rice to the Lao Defence Ministry
and 60,000 medical masks to the Vietnamese Association in Laos.

A day earlier, Army Corps 11 also handed over
10,000 medical masks and 5,000 others to North That Luang village and That Luang Pagoda in Xaysettha district of Vientiane capital, where the unit has been building the Lao National Assembly House.

Vietnam in top seeded group of AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification

Vietnam’s national U23 team is ranked 13th and among five squads in the top seeded group of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The AFC recently announced the list of 46 teams divided into two regional groups for a draw of the qualifiers.
The No.1 seeded group in Southeast Asia and East Asia also comprises the reigning champions the Republic of Korea, Australia, Thailand and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The Vietnamese community in Laos are working with Lao authorities and people to overcome the current COVID-19 outbreak by raising funds and donating cash, necessities and medical supplies to the host country.
A Vietnamese student in Laos has his sample taken in Vientiane. Lao medical staff in co-operation with the Vietnamese Association in Vientiane conducted COVID-19 testing on Vietnamese living and working in some areas.
After learning about a number of Vietnamese in Laos getting infected with COVID-19, the Vietnamese Association in Vientiane has taken a range of measures to support the Vietnamese community in the country.

NDO – The Consulate General of Vietnam in Paksecity, Laos’ Champasak province has actively mobilisedthe Vietnamese community in Laos to join hands with southern Lao provinces to overcome the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Vietnamese Consul General in Pakse Bui The Dung has said the Vietnamese Association in Champasak and Salavan provinces as well as Vietnamese enterprises in the southern provinces of Laos have enthusiastically donated money and supplies to support the local fight against the pandemic.
As of May 12, over VND600 million (US$25,900) had been donated to the southern provinces in Laos to assist in the struggle.
