In late April, Nguyen Thanh Truc, Deputy Chairman of Binh Duong Peopleâs Committee, met with Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kari Kahiluoto and a delegation of enterprises from Finland seeking business and investment opportunities in environmental hygiene, water, waste treatment, education, technology, construction, and architecture.
Kahiluoto said he and the embassy will strengthen ties between Finnish businesses and Binh Duong, while organising seminars on sharing experience in smart city creation.
Finnish businessesâ move is in line with the countryâs acceleration in sustainable development and digital transformation. And also importantly, they are gearing to benefit from the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

High time to further strengthen Cambodia-Vietnam friendship

On April 5, Vietnam’s legislature voted to endorse Pham Minh Chinh as the country’s next prime minister. And just minutes after Chinh was officially sworn in, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen sent him a warm and cordial congratulation letter.
“I am firmly confident that with our joint efforts and determination in working closely within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, Cambodia and Vietnam will be able to overcome the current unprecedented challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic for the best interests of our two countries, as well as for peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity in the region and beyond,” the letter reads.
As much as US$5.46 billion worth of foreign direct investment (FDI) was injected into Vietnam as of February 20, equivalent to 84.4 per cent of the figure recorded in the same time last year, according to the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Washington [US], February 24 (ANI): The US ban on China s Xinjiang cotton yarn makers over the inhuman treatment meted out to Uyghurs is now impacting the economic growth of its cotton companies.
Last month, Chinese cotton yarn maker Huafu Fashion sent a warning to investors. Multiple American brands have canceled orders, Huafu said in a Shenzhen stock exchange filing, citing US sanctions. It s brought negative effects to the company, reported The Washington Post.
Huafu which said it lost at least USD 54.3 million last year vs. a net profit of USD 62.5 million in 2019 is one of the few suppliers to publicly acknowledge the sanctions effects, reported The Washington Post.
