Japanese firm to produce Covid-19 test kits in Vietnam

Japanese biotech and chemical firm Fujifilm is planning to produce Covid-19 test kits in Vietnam by expanding its production facilities in the country.
Fujifilm would invest in Fujifilm Yuwa Medical Products Vietnam Co., a joint venture that produces diagnostic agents,
Vietnam News Agency reported, citing a Fujifilm official. The firm would be able to deliver two million kits a month to be sold globally, it added.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked relevant authorities to support domestic efforts in manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines besides sourcing foreign shots.
The orientation was stated by the prime minister during his presiding over a government meeting on Monday.
Phuc assigned the Ministry of Heath as the leader of a consortium including the Ministry of Science and Technology and relevant agencies, whose responsibility is evaluating the vaccine manufacturing capacity of domestic firms to provide them with timely assistance.
The premier also tasked the health ministry with compiling the results and knowledge from the clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccines in other countries, which would help accelerate the clinical test of Nanocovax – Vietnam’s first homegrown jab.

The first three volunteers to receive a dose of Nanocovax, Vietnam s first Covid-19 vaccine, are in stable condition three days after injection.
The anonymous volunteers, including two 20-year-old students and a 40-year-old teacher, were vaccinated on Thursday morning at Vietnam Military Medical University in Hanoi as Vietnam officially began human trials of the vaccine developed by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC.
