Vietnam’s Mona Lisa selling for millions no big deal

Experts are not surprised that a bidder recently paid $3.1 million for the Portrait of Mademoiselle Phuong by Mai Trung Thu.
The masterpiece set the highest bidding record for a Vietnamese painting after it was bought by an unknown buyer at the Sotheby s Auction House in Hong Kong last Sunday.
Vu Tuan Anh, general director of the Chon Auction House in Hanoi, said the $3.1 million price tag was appropriate, since the painting is rich in historical value and done by one of Vietnam s most prominent modern art painters.

Futsalplanet.com has said that two representatives of Vietnam’s
futsal scene have been nominated for honours at the
Futsalplanet Awards 2020, the
21st edition of the most traditional and recognised futsal awards, according to
the
Thai Son Nam FC is among ten nominees in the “Best
Club in the World” category, while its coach Pham Minh Giang is up for “Best Club
Coach in the World”.
Though international tournaments were delayed last
year due to COVID-19, Thai Son Nam FC still impressed the public by winning the double
Famous writer opens his first art exhibition in Hanoi Fifty-three paintings by Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of the Vietnamese Writers Association, are on display in his first solo exhibition called Flutist at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in Hanoi.
Flutist includes 53 paintings in oil, watercolour and pastel, showing his various imaginations of the flute.
There are also other images repeated in his works, mostly the symbolic images of villages such as ceramic pots and gourd plants.
For a long time, Thieu has been known as a famous writer, poet, as well as artist in both music and painting.
He has had paintings exhibited in many art exhibitions and drawn illustrations for his poems and for other writers. But this is his first solo exhibition.
