The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker actress - who recently won a BAFTA for her role of Bonnie in Netflix s The End of the F World - has impressed everyone involved in the upcoming biopic, which will be directed by Stella Meghie from a screenplay by Bohemian Rhapsody scribe Anthony McCarten.
Meghie said: We spent the better part of the last year in an exhaustive search for an actress who could embody Whitney Houston. Naomi Ackie impressed us at every stage of the process. I was moved by her ability to capture the stage presence of a global icon while bringing humanity to her interior life.

The Avalanches To Play Sidney Myer Music Bowl
The Avalanches will perform at the revamped Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on 23 April, performing for the audience in an all-new formatted seating plan.
The Bowl is undergoing a $500,000 upgrade to restructure the venue for a better Covid-free future. That will include a smaller stage for multiple activity to disperse the crowds and new Pod areas for smaller groups to socially distance.
And so Melbourne’s The Avalanches will be able to debut live their new album ‘We Will Always Love You’ at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
