Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, Jan 27 : With new techniques targeting a completely new setup of the global enterprise, 13,733 malware threats were detected every hour in 2020, with Trojan leading the year-on-year (YoY) and quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) charts followed by other malware, a report said on Wednesday. According to a report by Seqrite, an enterprise security solutions brand by Quick Heal Technologies, out of the total 113 million malware detections in 2020, the first quarter clocked the highest at 36 million detections, with January witnessing maximum malware attacks.

Synopsis Cybersecurity firm Cyfima recorded a 280% increase in cyber attacks directed at SMEs in the last 10 months. The notion that a cyber attack will only target a bank or a large firm no longer holds true. Cyber attacks on small and medium-sized enterprises have spiked over the last few months as larger organisations became harder to target once they beefed up their security protocols. According to security experts, SMEs emerged as an easy target during the Covid-19 pandemic, with cybersecurity firm Cyfima recording a 280% increase in attacks directed at SMEs in the last 10 months. “Large cybercriminal groups or state-sponsored groups are targeting them as well, given that a number of these SMEs work with large companies and government organisations,” said Kumar Ritesh, chief executive officer at Cyfirma. And cybercriminals are using SMEs as a path to get into large enterprises.”
