Northland in hot demand for Waitangi weekend

Air New Zealand has added seats for Kerikeri. If you want a flight to Northland over Waitangi weekend, you better get in quick, that’s according to Air New Zealand. The national carrier says flights to Kerikeri and Whangarei are in hot demand as people head towards Waitangi to mark the weekend. Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty says the airline has increased capacity across the domestic market but Northland is the stand out with 1100 seats added on the Auckland-Kerikeri and Auckland-Whangarei routes. “We continue to see strong demand across our domestic network and it’s fantastic to be able to put on additional flying to our regions – particularly to Kerikeri and Whangarei,” said Geraghty.

The airline is expecting around 10,000 unaccompanied minors to travel on its domestic network between mid-December and mid-February with the majority flying to and from Auckland. Air New Zealand Chief Customer and Sales Officer Leanne Geraghty says the airline has been looking at ways to make its unaccompanied minor service even better, particularly at peak times such as school holidays which is when 80 percent of young people fly alone.
