Loose Alligator Reported in Iowa Turns Out to Be Life-Size Plush Toy
On 5/5/21 at 2:17 PM EDT
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa was called to a Des Moines apartment complex earlier this week after it was reported that a four to five-foot alligator was on the loose. What they found, however, was something quite a bit more cuddly.
According to ARL Animal Services, the reptile in question wasn t a reptile at all. Instead of a real alligator, the officer at the scene was met by a life-sized stuffed animal. Our Animal Services Officers respond to calls about wildlife every day, but a call yesterday was a little EXTRA wild a 4-5-foot alligator! posted ARL Animal Services on their Facebook page. Residents of a Des Moines apartment complex walked out and were startled to see a large reptile resting in the parking lot, they explained. The residents then immediately reported it and waited anxiously until our Animal Services Officer arrived

For one of North America s largest urban agglomerations, the GTA sure does see a great deal of wild birds bullying humans.
From the infamous divebombing Red-winged blackbird (Dave) of Liberty Village to the notoriously agressive Canada geese that go nuts in Toronto every spring, sassy fowl are par for the course around these parts (golf course, that is, if we re talking swans.)
No one specific bird has been known to chase people, however, as much as the wild turkey an intelligent and adorable feathered friend who likes food almost as much as our beloved raccoons do.

The Office of Animal Services’ Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) will begin hosting free appointment-based rabies clinics for dogs, cats, and ferrets of Montgomery County residents. The clinics will take place at the County’s animal shelter facility located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Road in Derwood, on select Wednesdays beginning Jan. 20. The Office of Animal Services recognizes that the free rabies clinics are an important resource for pet owners in the community.
Due to COVID-19, to minimize risk for both participants and staff, the clinics will be appointment-based only. All appointments must be made online through the MCASAC website. Appointments may be made up to three weeks in advance. At this time, MCASAC will not provide pet licensing or microchipping services as part of the clinics but hope to add these options in the future.
