Pfizer Sees Waning Immunity From Its COVID-19 Vaccine
Pfizer says it is about to seek U.S. authorization for a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine.
The company said Thursday that another shot could dramatically boost immunity and maybe help ward off the latest worrisome coronavirus mutant.
Research from multiple countries shows the widely used COVID-19 vaccines offer strong protection against the highly contagious delta variant. But virus-fighting antibodies naturally wane.
Pfizer says early data from a company trial suggests people’s antibody levels jump after they get a third dose.
But the filing doesn’t mean third doses would be rolled out any time soon. Public health officials would have to decide if they’re really needed.

Brown trout can become addicted to meth when it accumulates in waterways, according to new research.
The study was led by a behavioral ecologist from the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, investigating whether illicit drugs like methamphetamine alter fish behavior at levels found in bodies of water. The study was published this week.
Gallatin County Residents Can Now Text 911 In Case of Emergency
A new Text-To-911 tool is available to residents and visitors in Gallatin County. If you are unable to call 911, you now have another option. You can simply text 911 to reach the Gallatin County 911 Dispatch Center.
Residents are still urged to always call 911 when possible but can use the Text-To-911 service when unable to make an actual phone call.
Gallatin County is one of 32 911 call centers in Montana to add text to 911.
The Text-To-911 service has many benefits.
It provides deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired communities direct access to 911 services.
