423 people in hospital with Covid across Wiltshire CCG area

More than 400 people are currently in hospital because of Covid in the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG area, it has been revealed. As of Monday January 25, a total of 423 Covid inpatients were being treated across all providers - double the figure recorded during the first wave. In Salisbury, the number is four times higher than during the first peak, according to the boss of the local CCG. Speaking at a media briefing on January 26, Tracey Cox, Chief Executive of Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: Whilst our community infection rates are beginning to drop a little, we are still facing significant pressure across our health and care system in terms of the number of inpatient Covid cases that we re seeing compared to the first wave.

People eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine who live within a 45-minute drive of each venue will be contacted in order to book an appointment. The centres are due to open on Monday and will initially focus on people aged 80 and older.
