Syracuse, NY ― Onondaga County’s district attorney is open to dismissing marijuana convictions involving up to five pounds of pot after the recent state law legalized it, he told Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.
Until the state’s new recreational marijuana law passed last month, possessing five pounds of marijuana was a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. Now, it’s legal if solely for personal use.
“If some defendant were to make a motion to expunge (a conviction of five pounds), I’d consider it,” DA William Fitzpatrick said.
