Two soldiers remained hospitalized at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, including one who is in intensive care, Fort Bliss officials said in a statement. All 11 soldiers fell ill Thursday following a 10-day field training exercise at Fort Bliss’s McGregor Range Complex, the base said. Initially, base leadership said the soldiers had ingested an unauthorized substance.

KDBC reports that a Fort Bliss spokesperson said as of yesterday there was still one soldier in intensive care and another in the non-critical care ward. Colonel Shawna Scully, Deputy Commander at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, says most of the soldiers are doing incredibly well in view of the fact that ethylene glycol in antifreeze is capable of causing kidney damage or kidney failure. Nine of the soldiers have been released from the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas but two still remain in stable condition in the intensive care unit, Lt. Col. Allie Payne, a spokeswoman for the 1st Armored Division told Military.com Monday.
