The discussion is titled Unapologetically Speaking; Unpacking Black Feminism. Topics will dive into the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, unpack protests against systemic racism and the fight for equity. Sometimes you just want to take off your fighting boots and just rest, but these systems that oppress us never take a break. We constantly have to be working to challenge and identify these systems of oppression, said Dr. Carolette Norwood, Professor of Women s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. N.J. college radio station named best in the country

Montclair State University’s radio station, 90.3 WMSC Upper, was named the best college radio station in the country for colleges with over 10,000 students, officials said.
The Essex County college was given the award during the 81st Annual IBS Conference the annual awards ceremony for collegiate broadcasters on Saturday, March 6.
Also taking home awards were Montclair State’s Joshua Tirado for Best Program Director and Kaya Maciak, for Best Business Manager. The school also was given the award for Best Use of Sound Effects from IBS.
“These prestigious awards affirm the hard work and standard of excellence achieved by Anabella and her team of student leaders, even through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” Keith Strudler, director of the School of Communication and Media, said in a statement. “It’s a public recognition of something we’ve known all along in the School of Comm

Carolette Norwood, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology and assistant department head of the Department of Women s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and director of the social justice program at the University of Cincinnati.
Djanna Hill, Ed.D., chairperson of the Department of Community and Social Justice Studies and professor of teacher education at William Paterson University.
Treva Lindsey, Ph.D., associate professor of women s, gender and sexuality studies at The Ohio State University. Black women and feminist-identified persons have been doing this social justice work without acknowledgement for far too long, Norwood tells WVXU. One of the reasons this discussion is important is because it gives recognition; it calls the names of Black women who have been and who are currently in the trenches doing socially just advocacy work.
