Police said that after hitting the victim, the truck turned onto the entrance road to Country Village Mobile Home Park and stopped. The driver then got out of the truck, looked back in the victim’s direction, got back into the truck and drove away.

Jackson to lead FREDTransit bus service in Fredericksburg, Stafford There’s a new leader at Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FREDTransit), the local bus service that carries passengers on routes in Fredericksburg City and Stafford County. Jamie Jackson will assume the dual leadership role, working both as director of FREDTransit and managing all of the transportation-related operations for the city. Jackson has worked for the city since March 2020. Before taking that job, Jackson worked in Hampton Roads. Fredericksburg posted a press release about Jackson’s promotion. City Manager Tim Baroody announced today that FRED Transit Director Jamie Jackson will assume additional leadership responsibilities for transportation issues previously held by the City’s Transportation Administrator.   Ms. Jackson will now manage both FRED Transit and Transportation for the City.

The Historic Triangle was graced with an inch of snow overnight, an uncommon occurrence for the area. By this afternoon, the snow showers will end and residents will be left with a mix of sun and clouds for the remainder of the day, according to Mike Montefusco, meteorologist at the NWS Wakefield office. Here’s how the frosty weather is affecting operations in the Historic Triangle. James City County County offices and courts are currently open and unaffected by the snow. All county parks are open. Convenience centers and garbage transfer stations are open and there is no change to curbside recycling schedule.

If you plan on taking public transportation around the holidays in the Historic Triangle, keep reading. The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority is operating on their winter holiday schedule this week and through the New Year. WATA will be closed on both Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) for service. As a reminder, the public transportation service stopped collecting passenger fares at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. “The following is the schedule for upcoming holidays,” according to WATA’s Facebook post on Dec. 17. “Please plan your trips accordingly.” Check out the full winter schedule below.
