The Martin Luther King Jr. poetry contest held by the Rochester Diversity Council gives local students the opportunity to express themselves freely.
Students like Willow Creek Middle School seventh-grader Eli Kagel and Byron High School ninth-grader Samantha Solberg used this contest as a chance to show their current interpretation of society through their winning poems “Tapestries Alive” and Life Seals You in a Path.

Several similar scenes of subdued celebration or relief played out as 300 people received their second dose of the vaccine at Willow Creek Middle School through the Minnesota Department of Health.

Nancy Denzer, a retired Rochester Public Schools principal, will serve as interim principal at Century High School for the remainder of the school year, Rochester Superintendent Michael Muñoz announced Tuesday.
Century s former principal, Chris Fogarty, has been reassigned to an elementary assistant principal position at his request, a district official said. He will work out of the Edison Building, the district s administrative center, for the remainder of the year, and be assigned to a traditional assistant elementary principal position for the 2021-22 school year.
