New Delhi, May 15 : The Archery Association of India (AAI) has initiated process for procuring visa for team to compete at next month s Olympic qualification event and World Cup in Paris. We submitted online visa application forms on Friday to avoid last-minute rush. The national women s recurve team is aiming to win a quota place in Paris (France), an AAI official told IANS.
The top three teams in the Olympic qualification event will earn quota places.

The Indian team s trip to Switzerland for the Archery World Cup in Lausanne has been called off after the Swiss Embassy s refusal to issue short-term visas due to COVID-19 restrictions put on travellers from the Asian country.
India is battling a surge in COVID-19 cases, with the country recording over 409,000 new cases yesterday as well as more than 4,100 new deaths.
Lausanne is due to host the second World Cup of the season, following last month s in Guatemala City, from May 17 to 23.
The event was crucial for the Indian women s team as they seek to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

NEW DELHI: India s Olympic-bound recurve archery team’s visit to Switzerland for World Cup Stage 2 in Lausanne from May 17 to 23 has been called off after the Swiss Embassy’s refusal to issue short-term visas in view of the flying ban imposed on Indian travellers on account of the raging Covid-19 pandemic here.
The tournament in Lausanne was crucial to Indian women archers’ preparations for the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris from June 21 to 27, which will serve as the final team qualification event for the Tokyo Games.
India is yet to secure a women’s team quota place for the Olympics, as two-time Olympian Deepika Kumari has earned an individual quota for the Games and is assured to travel to Tokyo.
